Dr. Sarah Mitchell, Physiotherapist
Physiotherapy

Dr. Sarah Mitchell

MPT, FCAMPT  •  8+ Years Experience

Completed her Masters of Physical Therapy at McMaster University, one of Canada's premier physiotherapy programs. Sarah holds a Fellowship in the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT), placing her among a select group of clinicians in Canada certified in advanced manual therapy. The FCAMPT designation represents hundreds of additional hours of post-graduate training and rigorous clinical examination — it is the highest level of manual therapy certification available to physiotherapists in Canada.

She has a particular interest in sports rehabilitation and complex post-surgical cases, including ACL reconstructions, rotator cuff repairs, hip arthroscopies, and spinal surgeries. Her approach to sports rehab is systematic and progressive: she assesses not just the injured structure but the movement patterns and load management strategies that may have contributed to the injury, and addresses both in the treatment plan.

Outside the clinic, Sarah is an avid trail runner. This firsthand experience as an endurance athlete gives her a genuine understanding of the psychological as well as physical demands of injury recovery — she knows what it means to want to return to sport and how to build a plan that gets there safely. Her patients consistently describe her as thorough, honest, and genuinely invested in their outcomes.

James Park, Registered Massage Therapist
Registered Massage Therapy

James Park

RMT  •  6 Years Experience

James graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy and has been practicing in the North York area since 2018. His training covered a wide range of therapeutic modalities including Swedish massage, deep tissue therapy, myofascial release, hydrotherapy, and pregnancy massage — and he has continued to develop his skills through ongoing professional development in sports massage, trigger point therapy, and TMJ treatment.

His treatment style is thorough and communicative. James takes the time to understand each patient's full history and goals before a session begins, and adjusts his pressure and technique based on their response throughout the treatment. He believes that the best therapeutic outcomes come from a genuine dialogue between practitioner and patient — knowing how tissue responds under the hands, and being willing to adapt in the moment, is what separates effective bodywork from a standard routine.

A recreational hockey player himself, James understands sports recovery from both sides of the treatment table. He works frequently with athletes managing chronic muscle tension, overuse injuries, and the cumulative physical demands of competitive sport. He also maintains a practice focused on stress and tension management for working professionals — a growing need in the North York community.

Dr. Aisha Osei, Chiropractor
Chiropractic Care

Dr. Aisha Osei

DC  •  7 Years Experience

Dr. Osei earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto, where she graduated with distinction. The CMCC is globally recognized as one of the leading chiropractic institutions in the world, and Dr. Osei's academic performance reflected a commitment to excellence that has carried directly into her clinical practice.

She practices evidence-based chiropractic with a strong focus on patient education. Her goal is not simply to relieve your pain — it is to help you understand why the pain developed, what structural and behavioural factors are perpetuating it, and how to address those factors so the problem doesn't return. A single adjustment may provide immediate relief; a well-designed course of care with progressive exercise and postural work produces changes that hold over the long term.

Dr. Osei has additional training in sports chiropractic and works with patients ranging from desk workers with postural dysfunction to competitive athletes managing joint injuries. Her chiropractic approach encompasses spinal and extremity adjusting, soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation exercise prescription, and ergonomic and lifestyle counselling. Patients frequently describe her as thorough, clear in her explanations, and genuinely invested in helping them understand their own bodies.

Mei-Ling Chen, Acupuncturist
Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine

Mei-Ling Chen

R.Ac, TCM  •  10+ Years Experience

Mei-Ling brings over a decade of Traditional Chinese Medicine practice to Apex Physio & Wellness. She completed her TCM diploma in Toronto and has since built a reputation for thoughtful, integrative care that genuinely respects both Eastern and Western medical perspectives. Her practice is rooted in the classical principles of TCM — the careful assessment of constitutional health patterns, meridian diagnosis, and the selection of points that address the root imbalance rather than just the presenting symptom.

She is particularly known for her work with patients managing chronic pain, anxiety and burnout, and hormonal health. Many of her patients come to her after years of managing conditions that have not fully resolved through conventional treatment — and find, often to their surprise, that a course of acupuncture produces meaningful, lasting shifts. This is not because acupuncture is mysterious — it is because the nervous system, immune system, and endocrine system respond to acupuncture in ways that are now increasingly documented in the clinical research literature.

Mei-Ling believes that acupuncture works best when the patient is an informed and active participant in their own care. She takes time in every session to explain what she is doing and why, to share dietary and lifestyle recommendations that support the treatment, and to answer any questions about TCM theory that patients bring to the table. Her patients consistently describe her sessions as both deeply effective and deeply educational.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

A Different Kind of Wellness Clinic.

At Apex Physio & Wellness, we built the clinic around a simple belief: that the best outcomes happen when highly skilled clinicians work together, not in silos. Our four practitioners bring different training and perspectives, but share a commitment to honest, evidence-informed care. When a patient presents with a complex problem — chronic pain with a strong stress component, for example, or a sports injury with movement pattern issues feeding the dysfunction — we talk to each other. We share relevant clinical observations across disciplines. Sometimes the best plan involves more than one of us.

We also believe in treating the whole person, not just the presenting complaint. That means taking time at every visit to understand what's happening in a patient's life — their work, their activity level, their stress load, their sleep — because these factors directly influence how quickly the body heals and how likely a problem is to recur. A physiotherapy treatment plan that ignores lifestyle factors leaves significant results on the table. Our practitioners are trained to see the full picture.

Finally, we are committed to long-term wellness over quick fixes. It would be easy to build a busy clinic on passive treatments that feel good in the moment but don't build lasting change. That's not what we do. Our goal is always to reduce your dependence on ongoing treatment — to give you the skills, the strength, the understanding, and the confidence to manage your own health. When our patients graduate from care feeling better and knowing why, that's our best outcome.
